How did you find out about [info]inmidian?: Derp.

    Character Name: Kimihiro Watanuki
    Series: xxxHOLiC
How Did They Die?: Instead of going back to the shop and taking it over when Yuuko died, Watanuki chose to follow her to Midian. Kid has issues. Specifically, when Cloney disappeared and Syaoran went back to Clow country, instead of returning to the shop, Watanuki came to Midian. This is... about ch182 or 183, I think.

Short Description of Appearance: Has too many elbows for one person, no glasses, little sense of self-preservation, though that has been improving. Tall, dark-haired, seriously thin, squawky.
Religion, Beliefs, or Lack Of: Watanuki only believes in what he can see before him-- but he's seen a lot of things. He knows that ghosts are real, and other spirits. He believes in Yuuko more than anything. He's seen the amount of power that she has. Watanuki is very compassionate and believes in innocence, and that everyone should have someone who loves them. Except maybe Doumeki.
What They Do When They're Upset: FLAAAAAAAIL. Scream. Complain. Make Food. Making food is Watanuki's answer to every problem.
What They Are Afraid Of or Makes Them Uncomfortable: Watanuki is scared of losing people, and this is really a fatal flaw of his. For example, even through mid-series, he'd sacrifice anything to save someone, willing to give up his other eye or even his life for the sake of the Zashikiwarashi. Yuuko and Doumeki and Himawari taught him how to value himself, rooting him to existence, but this doesn't seem to "take," exactly, given his actions when Yuuko dies. It might be worth noting that death or the threat of death doesn't make him uncomfortable, like it would most people. This is probably partially because he was unconsciously suicidal for most of the series, and partially because he knows dead people. He treats the little corpse under the hydrangea bushes with kindness, not revulsion.

How Do They Feel About Their Childhood, Family, and/or Close Friends?: Childhood: Watanuki doesn't remember his at all. This is because of an early deal with Yuuko, the exchange of his past in order to save his mother or her clone. One of the two. The few things that he does know or hear or remember, he treasures. For most of the series, he only knows two things: his father taught him to cook (which Yuuko told him), and the feel of his parents' hands on his forehead when he was sick. He finds out at the end of TRC about his parentage and his other self, but he doesn't get his memories back.
Family: See above. Watanuki has built himself a family in the friends he keeps around him. Yuuko is his surrogate mother, and Kohane is his little sister. He is very, very close to both of them, and will go through pretty much anything for either of them. He almost loses his sight because of Kohane, for example. And he basically gives up his life to follow Yuuko into the dark.
Close Friends: Besides Kohane and Yuuko, Watanuki's best friends are Doumeki and Himawari. Watanuki has this focused, almost ridiculous crush on Himawari, even knowing her bad luck could kill him, and he constantly tries to pull her out of her shell and make her spend time with him. He even gives her Tanpopo so she won't be lonely, and that egg was a very strong payment for his services. Watanuki probably wouldn't call Doumeki a friend, even after all this time, but Doumeki is someone he can lean on, and someone he trusts probably more than anyone except Yuuko. He relies on Doumeki to keep him safe on more than one occasion, and he feeds him in return. This is sort of their contract of friendship. Even when Watanuki complains bitterly about Doumeki's appetite, he feeds him and takes him along on jobs when he thinks there will be trouble (or, well, when Yuuko makes him).
Skills and Talents: Watanuki is a Cook, and he earns the capital letters. He can make just about anything he sets his mind to, and even when he complains about food out of season or difficult to prepare, he still manages to satisfy Doumeki, an incredibly picky eater, and Yuuko, who always has consistent praise for his work. He also somehow manages to keep the shop fairly clean, and he's good at household chores like laundry. Watanuki also has the talent of incredible persistence or stubbornness, which can be good in some situations, like when he taught the last customer to cook. He doesn't give in; he just digs in his heels and does the job. He wouldn't call it a talent, but Watanuki also has the unfortunate ability to see spirits, which gives him no end of trouble, because to those spirits, he looks quite delicious. It is his wish not to see them anymore that leads him to Yuuko's door. That, and hitsuzen.
Flaws: Watanuki has a serious habit of rudeness. Doumeki and Yuuko ignore it, but sometimes Watanuki goes so far as to strangle Doumeki. As mentioned about, Watanuki had some suicidal traits, and he considers his life much less valuable than the lives of others for most of the series. He's also quite a complainer and a spaz. He has this habit of always attempting to rescue people, and in several cases this leads him into danger (Himawari, the mother ghost, chasing after the Zashikiwarashi when she was captured, and Kohane are good examples).
Worst Habits: Sulking. Shouting. At times, being too full of himself (mostly around Doumeki). Stubbornness. Throwing himself headlong into danger.
Worst Habits in Their Opinion: Watanuki learns to recognize and drop many of his bad habits over the series. For example, he learns how to value his existence, because a sacrifice of self is meaningless when you don't value yourself. He has trouble thanking Doumeki for all of his help, but he learns to be appreciative and express that, at least a little. I think Watanuki recognizes all of his bad habits to some degree, but he has learned to ignore them. For example, I doubt that he thinks that being unable to let go of Yuuko is actually a good thing-- but he indulges it anyway.

    Third Person RP Sample:
Watanuki didn't like graveyards. Dead things congregated there. So he kept his eyes straight ahead (as if not seeing them would make them leave-- if that were possible, he would have banished the spirits long ago), his feet crunching over the hard dirt. He'd get out of here, and he'd find Yuuko. He'd made his choice. Some deep part of him burned with guilt, as Doumeki's face (not deadpan for once, but irritated) and Kohane, and Himawari, passed through his mind. But they'd understand. There were some things that were greater than his original wish. He couldn't go back to being alone, even if he wasn't alone anymore.

So he pushed the guilt away, and stepped forth with determination. Yuuko had a lot of explaining to do. And Clow too, probably, if he was correct in his assumption (someone had wished she remain-- and who else could it be?).

In fact, he was preparing a good angry rant in his mind, and also mentally sorting through recipes. Who knew what they could find to eat here? Yuuko knew. And doubtlessly, she would want him to make it.

Grumbling without actually realizing it, Watanuki stepped out of the graveyard and into Midian.
